What is Geography
Origin:
Geography was coming from The Greek word “geographia” where “Geo” means
earth and “GRAFFEN” means from writing to "GRAPHIA" mean to write.
The word geography was first used or coined by Eratosthenes (276 – 194 BC).
Simply, geography is the study of the earth as
the place for human's civilization.
Definition:
There are different types of definition of geography according to
different geographers.
- Geography is the study of the earth and its surroundings like planets.
- Geography is the study of all elements of the earth. It will soil, the atmosphere, human, the animal even the inner core of the earth.
- It is also the study of places(land unit) and their relationships between people(animal-human) and their environment(atmosphere - culture - society).
- According to spatial geography: geography is the study of the location.
Geography in simple words:
Simply you can say that geography is the study of the earth’s landscapes -
soil- atmosphere – animals – human - earth’s interior structure of
the specific land unit.
Elements: In geography, we have to study above mentioned elements specifically
like:
Landscape: mountains, desert, plain land.

Atmosphere: the position of the airs, distance from the sea – level, pressure, air
movement all around the earth, precipitation, cloud formation.

In geography,
we have to understand the relationship between the human and plant with their
